Hyperliquid copy trading: how it works and how to choose a trader
By Track100x Research · Updated
Copy trading on Hyperliquid means mirroring the positions of another trader, which is possible because every Hyperliquid account’s trades are public. There are three ways to do it — deposit into a vault, run a copy-trading bot, or copy trades yourself from alerts — and in every case the trader you pick matters far more than the tool.
What are the ways to copy trade on Hyperliquid?
| Method | How it works | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Vaults | Deposit USDC into a vault; the vault leader trades the pooled funds and takes a share of the profits | Simple, but you’re limited to traders who run vaults and to the vault’s terms |
| Copy-trading bots | Third-party software watches an address and places matching orders on your account automatically | Fast, but you must trust the bot with trading access and pay its fees |
| Manual copying with alerts | Get a message when a trader moves, then decide whether and how big to trade | Full control and no performance fee, but you have to act yourself |
How do Hyperliquid vaults work?
A vault is a pool of deposits traded by one leader. You deposit USDC, the leader trades the whole pool, and your share of the vault rises or falls with its results; the leader is paid a share of the profits. Check each vault’s terms — profit share, lock-up and withdrawal rules — in the Hyperliquid app before depositing, and remember that a vault’s history can include periods when it was much smaller.
How do copy-trading bots work?
A bot watches a target address and places proportional orders on your account whenever that address trades. On Hyperliquid this is usually done through an API (agent) wallet you authorise to trade on your behalf. Choose one that can trade but not withdraw, keep your main key offline, and test with a small balance first: bots copy losing trades as faithfully as winning ones.
How do you choose a Hyperliquid trader to copy?
Check five things before you copy anyone:
- Consistency. Profitable across most weeks and months, not one spike.
- Drawdown. How much they gave back at their worst point — under 30% is a good sign.
- Activity. Still trading this week, in markets you can trade too.
- Leverage. Habitual 25x+ positions are hard to copy safely on a small account.
- Not a market maker. Enormous volume with near-zero return means the positions aren’t directional bets.
The Trader Score rolls these into one 0–100 number, and the leaderboard ranks every top account by it.
Why don’t copiers get the same results?
Three reasons: latency (you enter after them, usually at a worse price), size (their position may be a small slice of a large account but a big slice of yours), and missing context (hedges on other venues you can’t see). Copy the idea, not the exact size, and decide your own exit.
How do you copy Hyperliquid trades manually with Track100x?
Copy trades manually in four steps: (1) pick a trader from the scored leaderboard, (2) tap Follow or open them in the Track100x Telegram bot, (3) get a message with coin, side, size, price and leverage when they move, (4) decide your own trade size and stop before entering on Hyperliquid.
Frequently asked questions
Does Hyperliquid have built-in copy trading?
Not in the one-click sense some centralised exchanges offer. The closest native option is vaults, where you deposit into a strategy run by a vault leader. Other copy trading on Hyperliquid happens through third-party bots or by copying trades yourself from alerts.
Is copy trading on Hyperliquid profitable?
It can be, but past results don’t carry over automatically. You enter later and at a worse price than the trader you copy, and a strategy that works on a $20M account can fail on a $2,000 one. Many copiers lose money even when the trader they follow is profitable.
Is it safe to give a copy-trading bot access to my account?
Only grant the minimum access: a Hyperliquid API (agent) wallet that can trade but not withdraw, never your main private key or seed phrase. Even then, a bot can lose your margin through bad trades, so start small.
How do I find the best Hyperliquid traders to copy?
Rank by quality, not raw profit. Look for steady gains across many periods, shallow drawdowns, recent activity and no single lucky trade. The Track100x leaderboard scores every top account on exactly these points.
Can I copy Hyperliquid traders for free?
Yes, manually. Track100x is free for one followed trader with alerts 15 minutes after each move; Pro gives instant alerts for up to 25 traders. You place the trades yourself, so there is no performance fee.
